FAO Warns about Lake Urmia Disaster’s Consequences
Azoh: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) warns about Lake Urmia drying disaster’s consequences.
According to Urmia Lake Restoration Program’s website, a FAO official in Iran in a meet with East Azerbaijan province governor said water volume of Lake Urmia has decreased to 2 million cube meters from 31 million cube meters and that taking an effective action has become obligatory.
He added FAO has the necessary background and is ready to share it’s experiences with Iranian authorities.
East Azerbaijan governor has welcomed FAO’s offer and told that cooperation with FAO’s experts will make them sure that the made decisions are right.
